Role:
My role in this monthly feature project included gathering accurate background information, shaping each employee’s story into a clear and engaging narrative, and coordinating with teams across different sites to ensure the content aligned with Ericsson’s communication standards. I drafted both the Chinese and English versions, managed revisions with reviewers, and prepared the final bilingual release for publication on Ericsson’s official communication channel.

A Creative Engineer from GSC China Wuhan**
“It is challenging yet incredibly fun to live an innovative life. We stretch our minds, help others, become more productive, and find ways to save resources. If knowledge is power, then ideas are priceless,” said Heng Gao during our interview.
In 2015 alone, Heng proposed seven innovation ideas across various projects, resulting in savings of more than 10,000,000 SEK. His team was honored with the ‘Best Innovation Team of the Year’ award in GSC China.

Despite these achievements, Heng remains modest. When asked about his early years, he simply said, “I liked studying, especially math.” While other children were pushed into tutoring classes, Heng naturally excelled and earned numerous mathematics competition awards.
Heng began his Ericsson journey in March 2009 as an I&V engineer in the Nanjing DURA I&V department. Like many newcomers, he faced challenges in the early stages of the TDSCDMA project. Through perseverance and innovative thinking, he improved efficiency, reduced repetitive work, and contributed significantly to the team. He received the “Best New Employee of the Year” award and was soon promoted to project leader.
This experience revealed to him the value of innovation, and he carried this mindset into every project he joined, inspiring his colleagues along the way.
Outside of work, Heng is a classic tech enthusiast. He enjoys both front-end and back-end development, building websites and forums for fun, and often spends hours perfecting a single icon or interface element. His technical insights occasionally appear on online forums.
After three years in Nanjing, Heng joined GSC China Wuhan as a support engineer in the Customer Support department. His innovative thinking continued, shaped by questions such as:
What do people really need?
How can we improve efficiency?
How can we reduce cost?
Several of his ideas gained global attention. One of them, the RASO CSR Tracking Tool, has been adopted in GSC India and GSC Mexico, enhancing efficiency across regions.
