People in Focus: Maggie Ma

Type: Feature Story (Corporate Communications)

Role:

My involvement in this project went beyond writing. I worked closely with different teams to collect accurate information, understand each employee’s contributions, and shape their experiences into clear, readable narratives. I coordinated with managers during the review process, handled revisions efficiently, and ensured that every story was aligned with the tone and expectations of internal communications. I also supported the monthly publishing schedule, helping the project stay consistent and meaningful for the employees who followed it.

Summary:

This feature story was part of a monthly employee-recognition project I managed during my time at Ericsson. Each month I interviewed selected team members, developed their stories, and prepared articles for publication on the company’s official communication channel. The goal of the series was to celebrate outstanding employees and strengthen engagement across the organization. This article introduces Maggie Ma, one of the youngest managers in GSC China, and highlights her early achievements and global project experience.

Short term assignment in PDU CC Sweden in 2013

Maggie joined Ericsson in 2011 shortly after completing her education. Following four months of onboarding and professional training, she received her first major challenge: a customer in Spain had expressed dissatisfaction with part of the project’s service terms. Maggie was assigned to resolve the issue and ensure the project stayed on track.

Despite the complexity of the task, she worked tirelessly to analyze the situation, seek remote guidance from senior mentors, and refine solutions. With persistence and family support, she eventually delivered a successful resolution that restored customer confidence and led to additional cooperation requests. During her time abroad, she also immersed herself in local culture by learning basic Spanish and connecting with local colleagues and partners.

In 2013, Maggie participated in a short-term assignment with PDU CC in Sweden, broadening her experience in global collaboration. Over four years, her strong work ethic, technical capability, and commitment to customer satisfaction earned her widespread recognition. She often reflects on Ericsson’s inclusive culture, career development opportunities, and the empowerment she has received as a young female engineer.

“I love working at Ericsson. Diversity is encouraged, and women are trusted with real opportunities. Everyone is empowered to pursue their goals. Seeing so many young talents—and especially women—become leaders is inspiring,” Maggie shared.

Business trip in Spain in Summer of 2012

Her work has taken her across the world, including multiple business trips to Spain, giving her both professional growth and unforgettable life experiences. Maggie values the balance Ericsson allows her to maintain between meaningful work and personal fulfillment.

“Ericsson has been my first employer since graduation. I’m thankful for the platform that helped me grow into a qualified engineer, for the managers who recognized my strengths, and for colleagues who supported me along the way. And to my family—thank you for being proud of what I do.”

Kevin Yang, Head of Domain IMS, praised her career achievements:

“Maggie was one of the earliest members of the Dalian IMS team and the ‘Best Rookie’ in 2011. She successfully completed the team’s first global IMS delivery and earned an excellent reputation from region RMED. She became known as the ‘Star’ of the team. Over four years as an Integration Engineer and Solution Architect, she always put customers first and earned zero negative feedback. She is a true role model of our service culture.”
